Jeremy Ryōkan Woodcock
Jeremy Woodcock is a Zen Buddhist priest, ordained in the Stonewater Zen Sangha. He lives in Nailsworth, in the Cotswolds, the home of his Zen practice at Woodchester Valley Zendo.
He is also a psychotherapist, having spent a formative part of his career as lead practitioner in Human Rights organisation, where he worked with people from every continent in the world, and acted as consultant to many third sector bodies at home and abroad. He has also been a teacher in many different psychotherapy institutions.
He sees his work as a ‘conversation across the boundaries of belief and practice … The invitation and challenge in all of this is how to meet oneself and others on equal ground, to honour our deep interiority and the Ten Thousand Things, to live joyfully and engaged.’
Jeremy is the author of many papers on psychotherapy, human rights, trauma, and spirituality; and most recently the book Families and Individuals Living with Trauma: A Guide for Therapists, Relatives and Friends.
His wife Jeanette is a Jungian psychotherapist. Together they have three grown-up sons, two granddaughters, and two dogs. Jeremy built by hand the wooden cabin in which he works and writes.
