Vishvapani Blomfield
Vishvapani Blomfield became a Buddhist at the age of fourteen, was ordained in 1992, and has been involved with the Triratna Buddhist Community ever since. For many years he lived communally while managing the organisation’s external communications and founding and editing Dharma Life magazine.
His books include Challenging Times: Stories of Buddhist Practice; When Things Get Tough, a collection of articles from the magazine; and Gautama Buddha: The Life and Teachings of the Awakened One.
For the past decade Vishvapani has earned his living as a mindfulness teacher, working via Mindfulness in Action and Breathworks. He is a leading figure in the UK mindfulness world and has pioneered mindfulness in criminal justice and community settings. He is an Associate of The Mindfulness Initiative and was a founder member of Mindfulness Wales.
His writing can be found at www.wiseattention.org and his mindfulness teaching at www.mindfulnessinaction.co.uk. He has been the Buddhist contributor to Thought for the Day since 2006.
Vishvapani lives in Cardiff with his wife, his teenage son, and a greyhound called Tessa. When not in prison or the classroom he loves tending to his garden and monitoring the fishpond.
